Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G is Definitely Real, Confirmed for Debut in Q1 2020

For a minute there, Samsung and Huawei battled secretly for the launch of the first 5 G phone, but Samsung seems eager to accept it. We thought it would be the Huawei MatePad Pro, but in a 5 G version one has yet to make a debut. Samsung has confirmed the launch of the world's first 5 G tablet in Korea in Q1 2020.

It's the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5 G and I'm really wondering if the specs-wise remains the same. During the February 11th event meant for the Galaxy Fold 2 and Galaxy S20, it's very likely to debut next month. The slate would probably keep 2560x 1600 pixel display of the same Super AMOLED 10.5 inch and the slim metal body, with a thickness of less than 6 mm on the waistline. We could also get the same Snapdragon 855 CPU inside, unless Samsung wants a S855+ or S865 chip to go up the stakes.

There is a S Pen in the mix, magnetically attached to the rear side, in a special slot. We also have a keyboard, of course, which hooks up to pogo pins. Other than that it's all RAM 6 or 8 GB, storage 128 GB or 256 GB and a dual back camera with a 13 MP and 5 MP sensor. The OG model had 4 G connectivity, ANT+, USB-C, Dual Band WiFi, GPS, but no NFC. Because of the extra components and perhaps also a battery update, I expect the 420 gram weight to increase.

Here we are only speculating and spit-balling, so don't read too much into it. It's possibly the same Tab S6 in the end but with a 5 G modem. I expect a price hike of at least $100 or $200.

Don't forget about the versatility of Android with DeX which brings a Windows-like UI.
